The Powerhouse program has been a tremendous success since its launch in May 2008. Ten public meetings were held between June and late Sept attended by 850+ people.  In the Mississauga area served by Enersource the response has been 9 geothermal, 7 PV, 3 SHW system applications.  This makes the total submissions to date for the overall program including Hydro One Brampton and Hydro One in York region to169 applications for system funding for the following type of systems - 148 geothermal, 14 PV, 6 SHW, 1 wind.   The terrific response to the program means that the funds allocated are almost all committed so anyone wishing to participate must act soon.  All systems must be installed by February 15th, 2009 to be eligible. 

MISE will be working in the coming months to be ready in the spring for another round of activity.

The  Mississauga Initiative for Sustainable Energy - MISE is a local grassroots organization in Mississauga formed in response to the PowerHouse program to promote Sustainable Energy solutions.  The committee has been meeting to develop its programming and welcomes new participants.  You can sign up for the committee on the sign up form on this webpage and we will be in touch.

PowerHouse is a new loan and rebate pilot program brought to you by Enersource Hydro Mississauga, Hydro One Networks and Hydro One Brampton Networks, funded by the Ontario Ministry of Energy. Zero-interest loans (on approved credit) or rebates are available for residential installations of Sustainable Energy solutions such as Solar Thermal, Photovoltaic, Geothermal and Wind Turbine systems.
