I’m happy to report that Tower Power Toronto’s next meeting on Wednesday, September 15th will have the following 3 special features:

Our special presenter is Rod Layman, who will describe the Green Phoenix project he has stick-handled for the last several years. For a intro to this extraordinary project, visit www.phoenixplace.com and click on the link to Green Phoenix.

In the second portion of the meeting, Tower Power co-chair David Booz will introduce us to part of the Our Power website that now hosts many of the special presentations made at past Tower Power Toronto meetings. This will become an important resource for green committees in condos and co-ops across the city in the months and years to come.

The meeting’s third portion will address whether we want to engage in political action. Most multi-unit residential buildings in the city have underground parking lots that are illuminated 24 hours a day – even when no one is in them. The potential for saving energy is enormous if lighting systems in garages are retrofitted to illuminate areas only during busy times and when someone enters them in off-peak hours.


Our September 15th meeting will begin at 7:30pm in the Waterside Room on the ground floor of Windward Co-operative at 34 Little Norway Crescent, SW of Bathurst and Queen’s Quay. As always, we’ll begin the meeting with short updates of green projects underway in a number of condos and co-ops.
