Dear Homeowners,
Over the holidays you might start thinking about 2010, and we would like you to keep solar in mind. There are a number of reasons why 2010 will be a good year to invest in a solar PV system.
1. The MicroFIT program is now in place and backlogs from its implementation will have cleared. (See first news release below.)
2. The 80.2¢/kWh rate applies for 20 years to contracts entered into now, but the OPA will be reviewing the rates at least every two years. This is a really good rate with a limited time offer (and it's unlikely to go up).
3. The Ontario content rule for MicroFIT contracts increases from 40% in 2010 to 60% starting January 1, 2011. Most companies will be unable to meet the 60% rule unless new production facilities open in Ontario.
4. The MicroFIT program at 80.2¢/kWh was calculated by the OPA to produce an 11% return on investment. That’s better than most other places you can put your money right now.
5. Solar panels produce clean, green electricity. You can do your part to fight climate change.
The Halton Residential Solar Project team wishes you and yours a wonderful holiday season and a happy New Year!
