On Sunday March 28, the Halton Residential Solar Project will host our second Solar Tour of the year. Our March 7th solar tour was an unprecedented success, with over 50 interested homeowners coming to view both photovoltaic installations. The sun was shining brilliantly to show the panels operating at their peak performance.
The upcoming tour will take place in west Burlington between 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. It features two photovoltaic systems and two solar thermal systems. One pv system is 2.6 kW in northwest Burlington installed by ARISE Technologies. The 13 panels in this system were arranged around skylights and sit on top of metal roofing. The other pv system on the tour is located on the shore of Lake Ontario in the Burlington Bay area. This 5.2 kW system was installed by Sun Volts Unlimited and is made up of 24 panels. Both systems have been recently connected to the grid by Burlington Hydro and are receiving revenue through the MicroFIT program. For those of you interested in solar thermal systems, there is one more location on our tour that features both a solar hot water system and pool heating system installed by Solar Ontario.
Homeowners, vendors, and project team members will be present to discuss the system, how it works, financial strategies and incentives that are associated with installing solar energy equipment and to answer any questions you may have. In order to protect the privacy of the homeowners we are not widely publishing their addresses and would ask that you contact us at [email protected] or call 905-299-2327 for more details about where and when each unit can be viewed. This event is FREE and open to the public.
Monthly solar tours are being planned for installations throughout Halton Region. Dates and times will follow as scheduled.
